IT Park and Yaroslavl region

The actual state of affairs with informational technologies is ambiguous in Yaroslavl region. Certainly our region was a leader few years ago. There were realized such large-scale Internet projects as Yaroslavl Region Network & Center of Internet at University. It happened many years earlier in Yaroslavl region then in other regions. The building of networks was the main technological problem while these years. Nowadays the decision of organizational & financial problems is more important then the decision of innovation technological problems for the building of networks. Intellectual point was moved from the infrastructural projects to the development sphere of program products, new communication technologies, equipment & protocols.

Today we have got a problem: there is no big account of investigations in the region, that’s why there are no enough job opportunities. The main reason is lack of companies, who have the development as a point of their business. Income risk is that the market of IT services & the development of software are developed very slowly in Yaroslavl region. Many famous region companies are focused on the IT market sphere, but not in the development sphere. It may force talent IT specialists to leave Yaroslavl region or to work not in the IT sphere & therefore not with the same benefit as it might be.

However there are many advantageous differences for the developing the informational technology sphere in Yaroslavl region:

• developed telecommunicational infrastructure;
• closeness to Moscow; it means the availability of large potential outlet, possibility of orders exchange, and also the knowledge of innovations;
• cost of the residence is lower in the region then in the capital;
• big account of universities, which educate lots of IT specialists (approximately no less then 40 thousands of students). Graduating students might find profile job in regional labour market.

All of these advantages influence on the functioning of IT park very positive. The IT specialist, who live & work in Yaroslavl, may be involved in active professional life, have orders from capital & other regions. IT park gives the opportunity of interesting work & permanent development for IT specialists of Yaroslavl region. More then this IT park makes contribution on decision the problem of region economics development. It is possible because of leading science development of program products, new communication technologies, equipment & protocols. One of the perspective ways of IT park development is guaranteeing IT specialists not only for Yaroslavl region, but for other regions of Russia.
